Bjork Live in Jakarta

Amazing show. Beyond words.

Only got a few pictures, Bjork was the one stealing the show.

Bjork look-a-like!
"It took me two weeks to make this dress. You should have seen it before, it was so awkward and awful!"

Haji Lane, Singapore

Haji Lane - some of the coolest, grooviest shopping finds are along this amazing tiny street hidden in Singapore. And I managed to discover, funnily enough, three girls from Jakarta!

So long 2007, hello 2008!

This isn't a fashion update, but for those in Jakarta, here are some note-worthy events coming up in 2008 that should definitely be attended! Finally bands are starting to pay attention to areas of South East Asia besides Singapore.

11 January - THE RADIO DEPT. Swedish indie pop shoegaze goodness. At the Usmar Ismail Hall. No idea on tix prices yet.

13 January - MxPx. One of the longest standing punk bands, MxPx have been around since 1992. Dress up in your rockin' out boots and mohawks! It's at Hall Basket Senayan. Tix are around Rp. 200,000

24 January - SWITCHFOOT. Alternative rock band from San Diego. Fun to listen to, and not terrible either. It's at Tennis Indoor Senayan. Tix are Rp. 300,000 for tribune, and Rp. 350,000 for festival.

12 February - BJOOOOORRRRKKKKK BJORK BJORK BJORK! (can you tell that I'm the most excited for this one?) I can't even believe this is real, even though it's confirmed. I expect to see some fucking cool clothes at this gig. Icelandic* craziness takes place at Tennis Indoor Senayan, and tix are around Rp. 600,000.

5 March, 2008 - INCUBUS. This 5-piece alternative rock band will be jamming at Tennis Indoor Senayan. No clue on tix prices, maybe around Rp. 200,000.

Also... My Chemical Romance 31 January

Helloween 22 February

James Blunt 21 May.

I doubt I'll be attending these events, but just letting all know.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and happy holidays to all of the Something Snazzy! readers. Your support has been great since I kicked off this "project" near the beginning of this year. Jakarta, keep up the super clothing choices through 2008. Sydney's the next city to get the Something Snazzy! treatment when I move back there in July, but until then my New Year's resolution for 2008 is to update as much as possible!

Take care everyone, and stay safe over the holidays.

*Yes, I realized that I am retarded. Bjork is Icelandic, not Norwegian. Major blonde moment!

Jazz Goes to Campus 30th Anniversary

I trekked over to the Universitas Indonesia campus at Depok today to check out the Jazz Goes to Campus event.

Talk about talent; there was some amazing jazz goin' down, which was absolutely delightful to hear while I meandered through the arts, crafts and clothes in the bazaar.

Packed with people, though, and it was incredibly hot, so that was a definite downside, and I left before seeing Sore, one of my favourite Indonesian bands, but it's all good because I've got a couple cool pictures on hand.

Check 'em out.

Mm, I adore Wayfarers!

Lego necklace! There were a whole bunch of them for sale at one of the booths, and if you're interested, the shop is called Plastic Surgery and they can be contacted at vintage.stuff@yahoo.com. Direct them back to Something Snazzy!

Uber Damage, Grand Kemang Hotel

Well, I learnt one very, very important lesson today that all fashion bloggers should bear in mind, and that I should have known better about.

Always, ALWAYS bring spare camera batteries before leaving the house.

Tonight was great, but alas, there are only about six pictures. Sorry folks. I'll be at Jazz Goes to Campus at the University Indonesia, Depok this Sunday, and you can bet I'll be taking more photos, and will have many a battery to spare.

Enjoy.

Looking forward to seeing some of you guys at Jazz Goes to Campus!

Sydney - Blonde Redhead Show

This is one from while I was in Sydney, and went to the Blonde Redhead show at the Metro. If you don't know them, then check them out. Very much along the lines of Deerhoof, that lovely experimental noise rock sound which I've lately been so fond of.

Kemang Food Fest - Cafe Du Chocolat

Despite their abusive shirts, they've got to be one of the cutest couples I've ever seen.
